Firefighters responded to the house shortly after 6 a.m. to a fire that originated in the walls between the basement and a bedroom and was behind the electric meter, Assistant Chief Bill Sohn said. The family of four exited the house before fire personnel arrived, Sohn said. There were no other injuries. The fireman was released from Provena St. Joseph Hospital Friday. Fire crews from Bartlett and Pingree Grove assisted.Hampshirebull; Hampshire firefighters saved a cat from a burning house in the 700 block of Centennial Drive, on Thursday evening, authorities said. The fire was contained to a basement and authorities suspect a faulty dehumidifier caused the blaze. Due to smoke damage inside the house, the family was not allowed to return there, Captain Trevor Herrmann said. No injuries were reported. Fire personnel from Burlington, Pingree Grove, Huntley and Genoa assisted. Damage was estimated at $200. bull; A purse and an RCA MP3 player were reported stolen Tuesday from a bus operated by Northwest Bible Baptist Church, 9N889 Nesler Road, near Elgin, according to a police report. Police said the victim was on a church outing and had been directed by church leaders to leave her purse on the bus when it was stolen.
