Scouting Metea Valley at Waubonsie Valley
Metea Valley (1-3, 0-2) at Waubonsie Valley (3-1, 2-0)
Game time: 7:30 p.m.
Last year: Did not play.
Last week: South Elgin 48, Metea Valley 13; Waubonsie Valley 45, Lake Park 7.
Outlook: This debut game seems a built-in Indian Prairie rivalry - Metea's sophs and juniors moved north from Waubonsie turf - but Metea coach Ted Monken doesn't see much of one "until we win a few and they win a few..." Monken's pulling for linebacker Donovan Rowsey, defensive linemen Justin Pruitt and Connor Mellor to stand up to Waubonsie's point of attack that saw the Warriors run for 235 yards against Lake Park, led by Jordan Johnson with 91. Monken hopes to force the pass, but Waubonsie backup quarterback Matt Schapen played fine (starter Tommy Kolzow is still questionable with flu) and returns tight end Mark Szott (thigh).
Next week: Neuqua Valley at Metea Valley; Larkin at Waubonsie Valley.
