Scouting Hersey at Prospect

Hersey (3-1) at Prospect (3-1)

When: 7:30 p.m. today at George Gattas Stadium

Last week: Hersey d. Conant 34-7; Prospect d. Palatine 41-27

Outlook: Resurgent Hersey comes in a bit short-handed with four starters out for disciplinary reasons but that's also a big concern for Prospect coach Brent Pearlman. "It looks to me like they have enough skill guys where it's not a crushing blow," Pearlman said. "I think they'll be just as hungry and maybe this is something they'll rally around and become a better team from." Prospect's offense just keeps getting better running the ball with Peter Bonahoom (624 yards, 8 TDs) and QB Steve Dazzo (473 yards, 6 TDs) and Hersey has also been solid in the running game with Chris Polinski (357 yards), Zach Johnson (319 yards, 4 TDs), Joe McGrane and Alex Vaile. "We've played quality football and we've made huge strides," said Hersey coach Dragan Teonic. "Our offensive line is playing well and (Johnson) is playing well so this isn't the worst-case scenario." Prospect has won five straight and 10 of 12 in a series Hersey leads 15-12.
