Arlington Heightsbull; Bonnie D. Shelesnu, 24, of the 1300 block of North Ridge, Arlington Heights, was arrested around 9:10 p.m. Sept. 20 at Mariano's Fresh Market, 802 E. Northwest Hwy., and charged with retail theft. Reports said she took a bottle of gin and hid it in her backpack. Her court date is Nov. 3.bull; Vandals pried the latch on the trunk of a 2007 Toyota Corolla in an apartment lot on the 1700 block of Woods Drive between 8 p.m. Sept. 20 and 6:40 a.m. Set. 21 and opened the trunk, but nothing appeared to be missing. Someone pried the trunk lid Aug. 28 but did not get it open.bull; Vandals pushed a 20-pound concrete decorative top off a fountain in the backyard at a home on the 500 block of South Harvard Avenue between 11 p.m. Sept. 20 and 8:30 a.m. Sept. 21. Damage was estimated at $500. The fountain has been in the yard for 15 years without a problem.bull; Vandals tried to pry open the credit card slot of an ATM in the drive-up at Chase Bank, 300 E. The offenders also tried to saw it off, but were not able to open the machine.bull; Vandals damaged a girls' purple bicycle beyond repair at Westgate School, 500 S. Loss was estimated at $350.bull; Thieves hacked into an e-mail account, changed the password, and sent a message to everyone on the victim's mail list, falsely notified them to send 1,350 pounds to a person in England because the victim had been mugged in North Wales. The victim discovered the scam and notified her listed people that it was not true. Apparently, no one sent any money.Buffalo Grove bull; Burglars climbed through an open window at a condominium on the 300 block of East Dundee Road between 4:15 and 9:35 p.m. Sept. 17 and stole jewelry and money. Value was estimated at $22,000. bull; Robert T. Phillips, 18, of the 500 block of LaSalle Court, Buffalo Grove, was arrested around 6 p.m. Sept. 15 on the 1000 block of Pine Tree Circle North and charged with possession of drug paraphernalia.bull; Edward A. Ciepiela, 25, of the 0-100 block of East Brookwood Court, Arlington Heights, was arrested around 2:10 a.m. Sept. 19 on Dundee Road east of Old Arlington Heights Road and charged with possession of marijuana and drug paraphernalia, driving under the influence and speeding. bull; Burglars stole a camera, several pairs of sunglasses and a watch out of a home on the 400 block of Springside Lane between 10 a.m. and 3 p.m. Sept. 20. bull; Burglars stole the radio/CD player faceplate out of a car on the 500 block of Crown Point Drive between 9 p.m. Sept. 18 and 7 a.m. Sept. 19.Des Plainesbull; Scott E. Greenberg, 48, of the 9000 block of West Oaks, Des Plaines, was arrested around 12:20 p.m. Sept. 22 at Shop N Save, 518 Metropolitan Way, and charged with retail theft and battery. Reports said he stole two cans of beer and pushed a security agent in the chest outside the store. His court date is Oct. 22.bull; Kristen L. Beck, 41, of the 400 block of Oak Street, Des Plaines, was arrested around 7:20 p.m. Sept. 22 at the police department and charged with battery. Value was estimated at $350.bull; Burglars stole a small TV and six bottles of blood pressure medications out of an apartment on Arbor Court between noon Sept. 15 and 3 p.m. Sept. 19, while the female victim was hospitalized.
