Hersey welcomes anti-tobacco tour

John Hersey High School welcomed the ASA High School Tour, in partnership with the Campaign for Tobacco-Free Kids, to its campus on Sept. 23.

The Tour brought in a state-of-the-art half-pipe, where five top pro-action sports X-Games athletes in skateboarding, BMX, and inline skating performed, while the ASA emcee delivered anti-tobacco facts and messages. Students earned prizes by answering questions about the facts they learned. The presentation covered cigarettes, dip tobacco, smokeless tobacco, secondhand smoke, and others that are equally dangerous, but less well-known.

Currently in its 12th year, the ASA High School Tour has reached more than 1 million students with its anti-tobacco message. The Campaign for Tobacco-Free Kids' goal is to reach more than 10,000 students per week, and it is offered to schools for free.
