Schaumburg man killed in apparent hit-and-run crash on I-90

Illinois State Police are investigating an apparent hit and run accident that killed a 59-year-old Schaumburg man Wednesday evening on I-90 near Elgin.

George Siaw died as a result of injuries he sustained after being hit by a vehicle on the expressway shortly after 8 p.m.

Police received calls at about 8:15 p.m. Wednesday from drivers reporting that a man was lying in the right lane of I-90 near mile marker 22 between Route 25 and Beverly Road, said Master Sgt. Thomas Gartner.

Officers found an unconscious man in the street and his car on the side of the expressway.

Elgin Fire Department officials took Siaw to St. Alexius Hospital in Hoffman Estates where he was pronounced dead at 4:15 a.m. Thursday.

Police are investigating the accident in attempts to find the vehicle that struck Siaw. Anyone with information is asked to call District 15 State Police at (630) 241-6800.
