Naperville man accused in intimidation scheme
A Naperville man is being held on a $1 million bond after Lisle police said he tried to hire an undercover officer to attack an estate executor.
Ladislav "Laddie" C. Fromelius, 71, of 1519 Watkins Lane, Unit 105, was arrested this week following a two-month investigation by police who say he tried to hire an undercover officer to beat the executor of an estate to which Fromelius is a beneficiary.
Police said Fromelius paid $1,000 to the undercover officer, with an understanding another $1,000 would be paid after the attack was committed.
After the arrest, police searched two of Fromelius' residences, where they found numerous firearms and other weapons.
He was charged Tuesday by the DuPage County State's Attorney's Office with felony solicitation to commit armed violence and solicitation to commit aggravated battery and intimidation, both misdemeanors.
Fromelius didn't post 10 percent bail and is being held at the DuPage County jail, officials said. He is scheduled to appear in DuPage County court at 1:30 p.m. Oct. 18.
