Ryan, Carmel stay hot at Benet
Carmel's boys soccer team stayed on a roll, and so did Jimmy Ryan.
Ryan ripped in his 11th goal of the season in the 28th minute, lifting the Corsairs to a 1-0 win over host Benet Academy in Lisle on Wednesday.
The victory hiked Carmel's record to 7-4 overall and 4-0 in the East Suburban Catholic Conference.
Ian Heinrich earned the assist on Ryan's goal, while Ryan May made 11 saves in goal to earn the shutout. Benet (4-4-1, 1-1) had one shot hit the post.
Warren 9, Vernon Hills 0: Auner Solis scored 3 goals, as the visiting Blue Devils cruised in the North Suburban crossover.
Warren (7-5-2) also got goals from Jon Trout, Danny Herrera, Brandon Brown, Michal Szczepanek, Leon Mardehow and Alex Buvala. Szczepanek added a pair of assists.
Brady Walsh recorded the shutout in goal.
Lake Zurich 2, Lake Forest 1: Nate Holicky and Matt Montemayer scored first-half goals for the visiting Bears in their North Suburban Lake win.
Brenden Seeger and Colin Rathe notched assists for Lake Zurich (7-4-1, 1-1), while Bears keeper Jeff Kreutz stopped 5 shots.
