Campaign sign law not serving public

Just who were our state legislators serving when they passed prohibitions on time limits for political signs? Surely, it wasn't their constituents.

Talk about self-serving legislation. If state legislators didn't like the varied requirements from one municipality to the next, couldn't they have chosen a reasonable time frame, such as 14 days, and made that limit applicable only to statewide elections?

Bottom line, though, is this is big government meddling where it doesn't belong. It is far more effective for municipalities to enforce sign removals than any other entity.

We are now destined to have election signs littering our environment indefinitely after each election. While some (hopefully, most) candidates will be considerate enough to remove their signs, there will be no penalty for the laggards.

Where was the publicity when the legislature was considering such an inane bill? I'm sure the public could have mustered some outrage back then. I'm hoping there are others who will express theirs now.
