Bartlett goes to the air to defeat Batavia

Batavia expected Bartlett to run the ball, but the Hawks took to the air to defeat the Bulldogs 40-22 in an Upstate Eight Conference crossover matchup at Millennium Field in Streamwood Friday.

Bartlett junior quarterback A.J. Bilyeu completed 13-of-18 for 277 yards and 2 touchdowns. His top targets were senior tight end Russell Martin (6 receptions, 126 yards, TD) and junior Zach Karys (4-99, TD).

Bartlett scored 4 touchdowns and amassed 314 of its 428 total yards in the first half. The Hawks (2-2) took a 26-7 lead over Batavia (2-2) to the locker room at halftime.

Bartlett recovered 2 fumbles and an interception to win the turnover battle 3-1.
