Daley machine won't be missed
The machine finally falls. Since I was old enough to vote, the city of Chicago was under control of the Daleys - and a few others between times. His father was a good teacher on how to run a city under corruption. He was good in the fact that he did not get caught in his under-the-table agreements and his undermining those around him. His son was not so lucky as he would sneak in and destroy a well used airstrip, Meigs Field, and destroy a town to build an airport so large that its failure has already been written.
In the past four decades I have listened, I've seen and I have learned. And quite frankly it all adds up to the same thing. They all talk the same, they all do the same. They are deceptive and manipulative. I will not miss this man. I fear the worst is yet to come.
