District 48 community forum set

Salt Creek Elementary District 48 is holding a community forum, "What's New in District 48?" from 7 to 8:30 p.m. Wednesday, Sept. 22, at Albright Middle School, 1110 S. Villa Avenue, Villa Park.

Residents will learn about new initiatives, such as the new foundation in partnership with neighboring school districts to raise funds for classroom projects and a pilot language arts curriculum that zeros in on reading strategies. The second half of the forum will be for residents to ask questions and provide input to administrators and board members.

Members of the audience will get a chance to use interactive white boards and student response systems - the same technology students will begin using this year.

The forum "is an opportunity to showcase what's new and also for the board and administration to listen to the community about what they want for the school district," said Superintendent John Correll.
