Briggs stands by his comments about women in the locker room

Lance Briggs' comments Wednesday about women not belonging in NFL locker rooms picked up national attention, so the four-time Pro Bowl linebacker was asked Thursday if he regretted anything he had said to NBC's Peggy Kusinski.

"I don't regret what I said," Briggs said. "My statement is that the men's locker room is for men just like the women's locker room is for women. And I meant no disrespect to Peggy or any other women who are in our locker room because we've never had any problems in our locker room. But, the fact that there is an issue over a woman that's in the locker room, that's in the men's locker room, is ridiculous. I don't think there should ever be a problem in the men's locker room. That's our realm."

Briggs was originally asked his opinion after the Ines Sainz incident last weekend in the Jets locker room, when the TV Azteca reporter was allegedly subjected to sexual harassment.

"It shouldn't be a big deal, period," Briggs said. "This is the same place where grown men are taking showers, this is the place where we (use the bathroom), and right outside of all these places we are surrounded by media. As we're drying off, and we're naked, we're trying to answer questions at the same time. Like I said, this is our realm. And the media has been welcomed into our realm. I'm not saying what happened there (with the Jets) was OK, but at the same time, maybe she didn't belong in there."

The flip side: Defensive coordinator Rod Marinelli, who has coached both players, did not want to weigh in on the war of words between former Bucs defensive tackle Warren Sapp and Bears defensive tackle Tommie Harris. Sapp said Harris wasn't in sync with Bears defensive end Julius Peppers in Week 1, and that Harris "looked like a blind dog in a meat store."

"I believe in Tommie Harris," Marinelli said. "There's no doubt about that. I think all of you have witnessed how hard he's worked in this off-season. He's not missed a practice, and I believe he's going to be an impact player. He had a good solid start. We all understand the expectations at that position and he and I, not him alone, are accountable to get this thing right to the highest level we can, so I'm looking forward to it. He's going to be a dominant player this year."

Wide open: Offensive coordinator Mike Martz says he's learned one thing about wide receivers.

"If you ask every receiver in the NFL (if he's) open, not one of them will say he wasn't open," Martz said. "Were you open? 'Yeah, I was open.' (Even though) he has three guys covering him. That's the way it goes. Every receiver that's worth a hoot at all is always going to say when you ask if he's open, 'Yeah, yeah, I was open.' "

Injury update: Devin Aromashodu (knee), Lance Briggs (ankle) and Matt Forte (knee) all returned to full participation in Thursday's practice. No players missed practice, and only linebacker Nick Roach (hamstring), who isn't expected to play Sunday, was limited.

For the Cowboys, linebacker DeMarcus Ware was limited after suffering a slight concussion last week, but he says he'll play Sunday.
