Man hit by car in Wauconda
A 58-year-old man was hit by a vehicle Thursday night while walking across Route 176 in Wauconda, according to police.
The victim was crossing the road at approximately 8:30 p.m. at an area without an intersection when a woman driving a Mitsubishi Outlander hit him, according to police.
The car was traveling east on Route 176 when it struck the man, leaving him unconscious when crews arrived, officials said.
The unidentified man was taken to Advocate Condell Medical Center in Libertyville, officials said.
Police said the man was alert at the hospital.
Speed was not a factor in the crash and police said the area was very dark.
Police do not expect to file charges in the accident.
