Man offers candy to Dist. 15 students

Palatine Township Elementary District 15 sent e-mails to parents Wednesday alerting them to an incident that took place at a bus stop around 8:25 a.m. with Lincoln School students.

Palatine police said a man driving a gray, four-door car offered candy to a group of children waiting for the bus on the 1200 block of Wellington Drive. A 10-year-old girl said the man drove away after she took a piece.

The driver never attempted to exit to the car, nor did he ask the child to enter. The girl told her mother, who contacted police. The man is described as white, 60 years old, with thinning gray hair with glasses. District 15 said its patrol officers and bus drivers are being extra vigilant.

Anyone with information should call police at (847) 359-9000.
