Our allies need a true statesman
On the eve of yet another Israeli-Palestinian peace summit, there is much pause both for hope and remembrance of the long and desolate road of previous, failed negotiations and tattered agreements.
The Israeli government will need the long-term support of the United States to combat terrorism and maintain its security. It is necessary that we provide competent officials in all of our political bodies, perhaps most importantly in the Senate, to assist both in the peace process and the overall war on terror. Having served in the military and having a keen personal grasp of foreign policy,
Mark Kirk understands the needs of our allies in their fight against terrorist groups, especially in the Middle East region. Clearly all free countries have a stake in this struggle, and the choices of every state, including those of Illinois citizens in who we support for high elected office, will determine if we succeed and reduce the lives lost in this struggle. Our allies need a true statesman like Mark Kirk in the U.S. Senate.
