Some new talking points to consider
There was a letter published here the other day regarding talking points and how we need a big government to provide for us. Here are some other talking points to consider:
"A wise and frugal government, which shall leave men free to regulate their own pursuits of industry and improvement, and shall not take from the mouth of labor the bread it has earned - this is the sum of good government."
"All tyranny needs to gain a foothold is for people of good conscience to remain silent."
"A government big enough to give you everything you want, is big enough to take away everything you have."
"The democracy will cease to exist when you take away from those who are willing to work and give to those who would not."
"I predict future happiness for Americans if they can prevent the government from wasting the labors of the people under the pretense of taking care of them."
"To compel a man to subsidize with his taxes the propagation of ideas which he disbelieves and abhors is sinful and tyrannical."
Some new tea party lines to fire people up? Actually, the quotes have been attributed to Thomas Jefferson, our third president.
