15-year-old arrested in Addison hit-and-run crash

A 15-year-old was driving in a hit-and-run accident that left a woman injured, Addison police officials said Friday.

The juvenile from Addison has been charged with not having a valid driver's license, reckless driving, illegal operation of an uninsured motor vehicle, disobeying a traffic control device and failure to give aid or render information after being arrested by police following the accident at 7:05 a.m. Thursday, said Megan Freeman of the Addison Police Department.

He was charged and taken to juvenile court, she said. However, Freeman did not know if the teen was free on bond Friday morning.

The teen was northbound on Addison Road when he sideswiped a vehicle in the eastbound direction at the Lake Street intersection.

The impact caused the victim's car to roll over, Freeman said. After the crash, the 15-year-old fled the scene.

The victim was taken to Elmhurst Memorial Hospital with non-life-threatening injuries, Freeman said. Her condition is unknown at this time, she added.
