Scouting Elk Grove at Fremd

Elk Grove (1-1) at Fremd (0-2)

When: 7:30 p.m. today at Hale Hildebrandt Field

Last week: Elk Grove lost to Barrington 30-23 (ot); Fremd lost to Prospect 28-14

Outlook: The Comcast Game of the Week has a definite must-win feel to it since Elk Grove also has Schaumburg next week and Fremd looks to avoid starting 0-3 for the first time since it lost its first five in 1990. "I think both of us are a little banged up right now," said Elk Grove coach Brian Doll, "and both of us are looking at this as must-win in a lot of ways." Doll felt the Grenadiers did a lot to win last week but thought TDs to end the first half and start the second were big momentum-killers. Elk Grove QB Nick Meyer (687 total yards, 8 TDs) tests the Vikings' defense led by LB Michael Sahli and DB Tyler Mundt. Fremd had senior Richard Concialdi and freshman Sam Beutler throw TDs last week. "They're going to be fighting and scratching and clawing because they have to get in the win column," Doll said. "I'm interested to see what they have in store for us." Doll said WR-DB Eddie Stahl (ankle) may see limited action. Fremd has won eight in a row and 12 of 13 in a series it leads 15-4.
