Blackhawks announce TV broadcast schedule

The Blackhawks today announced its 2010-11 regular season television schedule, the local portion of which covers 75 games, home and away. Veteran announcers Pat Foley and Eddie Olczyk will provide the coverage on each broadcast.

"We are proud to once again partner with our local rightsholders Comcast SportsNet and WGN-TV to bring every game to our great fans with the best talent in the business in Pat Foley and Eddie Olczyk," said Blackhawks Executive Vice President Jay Blunk. "Bringing the games in high-definition into homes throughout Chicagoland is imperative for those not able to find their way inside the Madhouse on Madison."

Chicago's seventh consecutive season on Comcast SportsNet features 55 contests, beginning when the squad opens their home schedule against the Detroit Red Wings at the United Center on Saturday, Oct. 9 at 7:30 p.m. "Blackhawks Pre-Game Live" will air prior to every game on Comcast SportsNet with "Blackhawks Post Game Live" immediately following each contest.

The Blackhawks third consecutive season on WGN-TV Channel 9 launches on Saturday, October 16 when the team battles the Buffalo Sabres at the United Center. Chicago makes 20 appearances on the station, which was also its home from 1961 to 1975.

In addition to regular season coverage, a franchise-record four Blackhawks games will be televised during the 2010 preseason:

• Wed., Sept. 22, at Tampa Bay Lightning 7 p.m. on CSN;

• Fri., Sept. 24, at Detroit Red Wings 6 p.m. on CSN;

• Sat., Sept. 25, vs. Detroit Red Wings 7 p.m. on WGN;

• and Sun., Oct. 3, verses vs. St. Louis Blues 5 p.m. on WGN.

Seven Blackhawks tilts, including the season opener on Thursday, Oct. 7 at Colorado, will be carried nationally exclusively on VERSUS. In addition, Chicago will have the chance to make up to four more appearances on NBC's "Game of the Week" in the second half of the season, once the league and network announce those contests as part of their flex scheduling agreement.

Every game in 2010-11 can be heard on the radio home of the Blackhawks, Chicago's WGN Radio 720, with John Wiedeman and Troy Murray calling the action. The station will also carry two live preseason games over the air, Sept. 25 vs. Detroit and October 3 vs. St. Louis. The preseason game on Oct. 1 vs. Pittsburgh will also be available online at wgnradio.com.
