GOP not after Social Security
Fool me once, shame on you; fool me twice, shame on me.
Democrats are trying to scare the wig off grandma with lies that the GOP is plotting against Social Security. These scare tactics have been their regular campaign themes since FDR. But it's President Obama that has charged his deficit commission with "everything's on the table."
Obama personally teed up the campaign theme earlier when he celebrated Social Security's 75th anniversary by claiming that "privatizing Social Security" is a key part of the Republicans legislative agenda if they win control of Congress.
The word "privatizing" may seem like a dirty word to seniors; but if the government offered a "lump sum payout" of their contributions while working when they reach their 65th birthday to do as they want with that one-time check, how many seniors would say no to controlling their retirement funds?
Let's not forget that the Democrats passed Obamacare against the wishes of the majority of Americans opposed to a government takeover of health care. It's the Democrats wanting to cut $500 billion from Medicare to pay for universal health care. Now if you believe that Medicare will be better, less $500 billion, then I've got some oceanfront property in Arizona that I will sell you.
