Lake in the Hills police search for tire slasher

Lake in the Hills police are trying to determine who slashed tires on 27 vehicles before dawn Tuesday.

Police Sgt. Eric Decker said the vandal or vandals went through a subdivision near Pyott Road and Willow Street and slashed the tires between 1 a.m. and 4:30 a.m., officials said.

He said most of the attacks occurred to cars parked outside - not in garages - near the 600 blocks of Anderson Drive, David Street and Joseph Street.

He said investigators are still trying to determine the exact times of the vandalism. He said the slashed tires were observed by homeowners or by officers patrolling the area.

Authorities are asking anyone with information to call police at (847) 658-5676.
