A kitten saved by many caring people

Last Friday I was driving through a Mt. Prospect neighborhood when I noticed a group of people standing around and a police car with its lights on. I stopped, and discovered a little kitten had been hit by a car and was just lying there in the street, dying. No one seemed to be doing anything. I asked the police if the kitten was dead and he said, "No, not yet." They said they would probably take it in and get it euthanized.

I started to drive away, but couldn't bear the thought of this kitten suffering a slow and painful death. I backed up and told the police I would take her to the emergency vet. Even though I am unemployed, some things are just more important than money.

The officer got me the number of the Care Clinic on Palatine Road in Arlington Heights. The staff there was kind and sympathetic. To my surprise, one of the staff said she would adopt the kitten if she could be saved.

They examined her, gave her oxygen and an IV, took X-rays and discovered she had, not a broken hip, which would surely have led to euthanasia, but a displaced hip, which is much less complicated to fix. The kitten is on her way to recovery and has another chance in life thanks to everyone's help.

I wanted to say thank you to the officers for getting me the information about the hospital. Most importantly, I want to thank the kind staff of The Care Clinic for taking care of this little baby, for their concern, their help and their offer to get the kitten adopted. Personally, I would like to thank Kristy (thanks for the hugs), Mike, Dr. Valenzuela and especially Isabella, who will be adopting the kitten.

This was a stray kitten. It is a good reminder to get your pets fixed so they don't have litter after litter of homeless kittens and puppies. There are low-cost solutions to getting your pet fixed - just call your local vet for more information. The animals thank you.
