Vernon Hills teen arrested for underage drinking
Two weeks ago, police say Giovannie Bahena avoided arrest for underage drinking when he fled a Prospect Heights party after police arrived to investigate a noise complaint.
His luck ran out Friday when Prospect Heights police arrested the 19-year-old at the Wimbledon Estates complex, which police had warned him not to visit, said Cook County Assistant State's Attorney Haley Peck at Bahena's bond hearing Saturday.
A Cook County judge set bond at $20,000 for the Vernon Hills teen who lives in the 900 block of Jackson Court and who police described as a known gang member.
Police recognized Bahena - who greeted them with a beer bottle in his hand - when they arrived at a Prospect Heights residence on Aug. 21 to investigate a complaint of loud music, Peck said.
Bahena fled but was arrested Friday for criminal trespass to property. He was also charged with underage drinking.
His criminal background includes a conditional discharge in 2010 for possession of cannabis; boot camp for a 2009 conviction for manufacturing and delivering a controlled substance and two days in jail for a 2009 conviction for criminal trespass. He next appears in court on Sept. 29.
