Scouting Fremd at Prospect
Fremd (0-1) at Prospect (0-1))
When: 7:30 p.m. today at George Gattas Stadium
Last week: Fremd lost to Lake Zurich 20-10; Prospect lost to York 34-21
Outlook: You have to go into the way-back machine to find the last time either of these perennial powers were 0-2 - Prospect in 1996 when it was 0-9 and Fremd in 1990 when it was 2-7. But that's how one team is going to leave tonight. Prospect had a 463-415 yard advantage on York but gave up TDs of 44, 65 and 68 yards. "I'm still cautiously optimistic but we have to turn this thing around defensively," said Prospect coach Brent Pearlman. "It's like when we first got here, there's a mindset that has to be changed." Pearlman said missing Peter Bonahoom for much of the second half had more of an effect offensively. Fremd outgained Lake Zurich 368-281 behind QB Rich Concialdi (17-for-28, 271 yards), RB Justin Wallace (101 yards) and WRs Greg Lombard and Connor Pfister but saw a 10-0 lead evaporate in the final seven minutes. "For three quarters they dominate," Pearlman said. "Lake Zurich wasn't driving up and down the field and it seemed like Fremd was." Fremd has won the last two meetings of a series it leads 13-5.
