Dundee-Crown (0-1) at Streamwood (0-1)
Game time: 7:30 p.m. Friday at Millennium Field, Streamwood

Last week: Elgin 41, Dundee-Crown 12; Antioch 47, Streamwood 14
Outlook: Both teams are looking for some momentum here heading into their respective conference schedules. Dundee-Crown went right to work correcting mistakes it saw in the Week 1 loss to Elgin. "We saw what we did wrong and they are things that are easy to fix," said D-C coach Mike Davis. "We did some good things in that game. We got down inside the 15 and the 20 three times, but we didn't score. On defense, we gave up some big plays. We saw more positives than negatives. At the start of the second half against Elgin we got down to the 15 with it 20-6 and we got stopped and then they come back and score. If we score there, it could be 20-13 and then it's a game. That kind of took the wind out of our sails." Davis liked his team's resolve throughout the game. "They played hard," said Davis. "They kept playing and that's all we can ask for. What I liked is how we responded on Saturday and Monday. The kids have been very positive. They are ready to go. They've learned to move on. We are going to get better." Davis cited strong play from junior Ardian Asani. "He played both ways (WR-CB) and had a big game," said Davis. Defensive tackle Jimmy Kuczynski (junior) and senior safety Miles Adkins also played well. Streamwood, whose only win of the year last year came against Dundee-Crown, also took plenty of positives out of its loss to Antioch. "Our guys battled back," said Streamwood coach Cal Cummins. "We drove the ball down the field and got a couple of scores. We definitely had some good individual efforts." Senior Nick Pryor had a strong game (80-yard touchdown pass), while Ben Fritz (senior tight end-linebacker) also had a good showing in the Antioch game. "Those were the two guys that were the most consistent for us," said Cummins. The Sabres' coach noted consistency as a whole is something the team needs to continue to work on. "We certainly needed to be more consistent against Antioch," said Cummins. "We had some mental errors and some technical errors. Some of the breakdowns led to major issues on both sides of the ball. We lacked consistency against a team that was well-manned up front. Hopefully this week we will be more even keel." Neither team is reporting any significant injuries. "We're very similar teams," said Cummins. "Both teams were a little frustrated with the first week. This is an opportunity for both teams to put themselves back in a position to get a win. Dundee-Crown has some athletes and they have a little speed. A little bit of a key is going to be shutting some of their people down."
Next week: Johnsburg at Dundee-Crown; Elgin at Streamwood.
