Schaumburg's Septemberfest wraps up summer with a celebration

Kick off this month by celebrating at Septemberfest in Schaumburg.

Families can enjoy plenty of food, rides, games, arts and crafts and music at the fest, themed Fabulous 40 for its 40th year, which starts Saturday, Sept. 4, and runs through Monday, Sept. 6, at the Robert O. Atcher Municipal Center, 101 Schaumburg Court, near the intersection of Schaumburg Road and Summit Drive. Admission is free.

One of the festival's highlights is the Taste of Schaumburg from 10 a.m. to 10 p.m. Saturday and Sunday.

The event features food from 26 of Schaumburg's top restaurants, such as Bonefish Grill, John Barleycorn and Lou Malnati's Pizzeria. Nonprofits have their day in the food tent from 9 a.m. to 9 p.m. on Monday.

Musical entertainment will take place on two stages - the Bud Light Music Stage and the Schaumburg Marriott Musical Stage. Major music acts such as the Gin Blossoms, Foghat and 7th Heaven will perform at the Bud Light main stage, while local dance troupes, music acts and various demonstrations will be help at the Schaumburg Marriott stage.

More entertainment will take place in the dining tent, and a juggler and magician will walk the festival grounds entertaining kids.

An arts and crafts area will be set up, where more local musicians will perform.

Parking is not available on the festival grounds.

Patrons are encouraged to use the free Septemberfest shuttle buses, available from 9:30 a.m. to 10:30 p.m. Saturday, 8:30 a.m. to 10:30 p.m. Sunday and 8:30 a.m. to 9:30 p.m. Monday.
