Your news: Walker holds community meeting in constituents' home

State Rep. Mark Walker (D-Arlington Heights) listened to constituents and answered questions at a community meeting held in his constituents' home, Tuesday. The first-term legislator discussed issues facing the state with 20 neighbors, and explained how he has used his first 19 months in office to fight corruption and help small businesses create jobs.

"In 19 months, I've been able make some progress toward a stronger economy, a new budget and a more ethical, more transparent state government," Walker said. "But we all know there is more work to be done. I hold meetings like this so I can hear from the people I represent, because my successes during my first term - whether that's new laws preventing political donors from receiving state contracts, or reducing the Cook County sales tax - all start with listening to my constituents, and making their voices heard in Springfield."

The meeting, hosted by Bob and Mary Edith Arnold in their Arlington Heights home, is the first in a series of community meetings, which Walker will hold in constituents' homes. Meetings in Mount Prospect, Rolling Meadows and Elk Grove Village are also scheduled.

For times and locations of upcoming meetings, contact Walker's office at (847) 640-6619. Walker represents the 66th District, which includes parts of Arlington Heights, Elk Grove Village, Mount Prospect, Rolling Meadows, Des Plaines and Schaumburg.
