Traffic will ease for commuters using Routes 25, 31
Traffic should be less jammed for motorists who use either Route 25 or Route 31 on their daily commute starting next week.
Kane County Division of Transportation officials confirmed Friday that repaving that was initially planned to run simultaneously with work on Route 25 will be delayed until Route 25 repaving is complete.
Meanwhile the section of Dunham Road between Stearns Road and Route 25 that's been closed will reopen either Monday or Tuesday. Route 25 at the new Stearns Road will be repaved during the week starting Monday, but Route 31 will remain a viable option during the week. KDOT will be doing some shoulder work on Route 31 at McLean Boulevard, but all lanes of traffic will be open, said Dave Boesch, who oversees road construction for the county. That will make Route 31 the best choice for fans of Route 25 and Route 31 next week.
"We'll have some flaggers our there, but overall traffic on Route 31 should be pretty smooth," Boesch said.
Commuters on McLean Boulevard will still see some rough pavement at the South Lancaster Circle intersection. That pavement will not be fixed until mid-September.
