Scouting Streamwood at Antioch
Streamwood (1-8) at Antioch (5-4)
When: today at 7:30 p.m.
Last year: Antioch 34, Streamwood 0
Outlook: These schools meet for the second straight year in the season opener. Alex Morrow gained 326 yards and scored 2 touchdowns for the Sabres as a junior; Josh Guadarrama was Antioch's second-leading rusher last year with 751 yards (7.4 avg.) and 11 touchdowns. Fellow wingback Vinnie Holm, a three-year starter, ran for 498 yards and 8 TDs. Streamwood has a balance of talent "across the board" on offense, coach Cal Cummins said, which he believes will keep teams from being able to key on one or two talented athletes as defenses have in the past. Junior Dalton Lundeen returns at quarterback for Streamwood. Before he was lost for the season to injury in Week 4, Lundeen completed 30-of-67 attempts for 281 yards and a touchdown. Antioch returns senior quarterback Tom Sears, mainly a rushing quarterback in the option offense. Antioch's talented junior class went 16-1-1 on the lower levels and will strengthen multiple positions, particularly on defense. "The last couple of years they've been a pretty solid running team," Streamwood coach Cal Cummins said of the Sequoits. "They play aggressive, hard-nosed football. It'll certainly be a good challenge on the road for us right away."
