Damage was done before Obama
Mr. Wagner, in response to your letter of Aug. 17, I believe you got a couple of your facts from Glenn Beck/Rush Limbaugh, and since they never let the facts stand in the way of the truth, let me throw a couple of your questions back at you:
Did you know that the stimulus bill, although it hasn't created the 3 million jobs President Obama promised, yet, nonpartisan groups say it has created or saved 1.2 million to 2.8 million jobs. And many Republicans have grabbed large chunks of cash from the bill they voted against. Shocking!
Or that TARP was signed by George W. Bush and doled out by his Treasury secretary, Henry Paulson, to former pals on Wall Street?
And, of the first $250 billion that was supposed to be repaid in February 2009, Elizabeth Warren found that $78 billion was never accounted for? She is the woman who Wall Street and the GOP are trying to prevent from becoming the director of the new Consumer Financial Protection Agency.
No correlation, I'm sure.
Or that 99 percent of the health care reform bill and none of the financial reform package has kicked in yet? Hard to wreck the economy before you're part of it!
Are we happy with the unemployment numbers today? Surely not. But sending jobs overseas and encouraging illegal immigration to cut down your overhead (wages) for the last 15 to 20 years has put us into this position. And when you have one party voting "no" on every jobs bill, it's not going to get any better soon.
