Elginbull; Two Elgin men faced prison time after being arrested and charged with robbing a woman of her purse, $180 and a wireless phone on Aug. 18 while they were both carrying guns. police said. Stanley R. Gallager, 28, of the 400 block of Edison Avenue, and Demarquis S. Smith, 19, of the 300 block of Billings Street, were charged Monday with armed robbery, a felony that carries a six- to 30-year prison sentence if convicted and probation is not an option. Bail for both men was set at $75,000 and they are due in court on Sept. 3.bull; Rafael Rosiles Jr., 18, of the 400 block of South Liberty Street, and Jonathan Gasca, 18, of the 200 block of Healy Street, were charged with unlawful use of weapon after a traffic stop at 10:57 p.m. Monday, reports said. Police saw the vehicle driving erratically and found two children's metal baseball bats and a hammer in the car that the officer believed were going to be used as weapons, reports said.bull; Someone stole an iPod from an unlocked car in the 1100 block of Bellevue Street between 11 p.m. Monday and 1:30 a.m. Tuesday, reports said.Lake in the Hillsbull; A 15-year-old Lake in the Hills boy was accused Tuesday of stealing more than $300 in merchandise from a drugstore in the 100 block of Randall Road and of having marijuana in his possession. He was released to his parents.Kane Countybull; The sunroof of a 2003 Cadillac Escalade was reported damaged Aug. 18 on the 200 block of Sky Line Drive, near Carpentersville. Police said it appeared a rock was used to put a large hole in the sunroof. A Cadillac ornament also was removed from the vehicle's back hatch. bull; A blue Makita cordless drill and a red and black Craftsman toolbox containing sheet metal tools were among items reported stolen Saturday from a vehicle on the 40W800 block of Bending Lane, near Elgin. The loss was estimated at $870, police said.bull; A purse containing a debit card, a checkbook and a black leather wallet was reported stolen Aug. 19 from a vehicle at the Kane County Judicial Center, 37W777 Route 38, near St. Charles, police said.bull; A Garmin GPS and an iPhone/iPod charger were reported stolen Aug. 16 from an unlocked sport utility vehicle on the 05N600 block of Cochise Drive, near Maple Park. The loss was estimated at $325, police said. bull; A hit-and-run crash was reported at 7:56 p.m. Friday after police found an unattended Honda Civic in a ditch at Highland Avenue and Coombs Road, near Elgin, police said. Authorities were looking for the driver.
