Blackhawks sign winger Fernando Pisani
Seven-year NHL veteran winger Fernando Pisani has signed a a one-year contract with the Chicago Blackhawks.
Pisani, 33, collected 4 goals, 4 assists, and 10 penalty minutes in 40 regular-season games with the Edmonton Oilers in the 2009-10 season. The Edmonton, Alberta, native has spent his entire seven-year NHL career with the Oilers.
Originally selected by the Oilers in the eighth round (195th overall) of the 1996 NHL Entry Draft, Pisani has registered 153 points (80G, 73A) and 190 penalty minutes in 402 career regular-season games. He has added 19 points (15G, 4A) in 30 postseason tilts, which includes leading the Oilers with 14 goals and five game-winning goals, and ranking third with 18 points during the club's run to the 2006 Stanley Cup Final.
Pisani was a finalist in 2008 for the Bill Masterton Memorial Trophy, awarded annually to the player who best exemplifies the qualities of perseverance, sportsmanship, and dedication to ice hockey.
