Senior Fair todayState Sen. Dan Duffy and State Rep. Ed Sullivan host a Senior Fair at the Libertyville Sports Complex today from 9 a.m. to noon. All interested senior citizens in the 26th Senate District are invited to attend for information and demonstrations on important quality-of-life issues. Local health care organizations will provide blood pressure testing, and skin cancer screening will be provided with an appointment. A Rules of the Road review class will be offered at 10 a.m., and the Illinois Secretary of State's Mobile Drivers License facility will be on hand to provide license photo identification cards for those seniors in attendance. Government agencies will provide information on prescription and insurance programs, veterans' benefits, unclaimed property, amplified telephones and many other programs. Free refreshments will be provided. The event will be at the Libertyville Sports Complex, 1950 N. Route 45, Libertyville. For information or to make an appointment, call (847) 317-0025.Gurnee wind energy meeting Gurnee plan commission and zoning board of appeals will hold a continued joint public hearing at 7:30 p.m. Sept. 1 to discuss potential regulations for wind energy systems in residential and business lots. The session will be at village hall, 325 N. O'Plaine Road. Gurnee does not have any local law regarding wind turbines and other such devices. Residents will have an opportunity to comment on the potential rules at the hearing. For more information, call Gurnee's community development department-planning division at (847) 599-7550.Lambs needs volunteersLambs Farm needs volunteers for the third annual Popcorn Day on Friday, Oct. 1 and Saturday, Oct. 2. Volunteers are needed to collect donations at storefronts, intersections and train stations in more than 30 North suburban communities. Volunteers are asked to work three to four hours on Friday between 7 a.m. and 6 p.m. Friday or between 8 a.m. and 5 p.m. Saturday.
