Streamwood's fiscal caution nothing new
I would like to clear up some misconceptions about the Village of Streamwood.
In the late 1980s, thanks to the education spoon fed to us on the Village Board by Public Works Director John White and our finance director, Dave Richardson, the Village finally started to prioritize and allocate needed money for infrastructure repairs.
We also established more cautious, conservative fiscal policies for the future. We, the Village, started turning the corner on these matters, before Mayor Roth became mayor.
I am delighted that Mayor Roth and succeeding Village Boards have maintained the direction and improved on what we started back in 1985 to 1989. Thank you!
My request for law enforcement assistance (in late 1985) to root out corruption in our Village brought in the FBI and IRS by 1987. This corruption was a carry-over from the previous administration.
Today I urge that the Mayor and the board of trustees to partner with area-wide municipal groups and our neighboring municipalities and be available to the press for comment on municipal matters. Let's not cut ourselves off from our neighbors!
