Photographer debuts work:Photographer Rick Scalzo of Aurora will have his gallery debut today at Limestone Coffee and Tea. 15 E. Wilson St., Batavia. He has selected 23 personal favorites, including "No Time To Stop." A meet and greet will be held from 6 to 9 p.m. at Limestone. A portion of sales from his show will be donated to the American Cancer Society. Main St.S. Elgin road closure:South Lancaster Circle at McLean Boulevard in South Elgin will be closed to traffic today so crews can grind down pavement before the pavement can be replaced. Local access to the subdivision will be through North Lancaster Circle. Signs will be posted.Dogs and jewels:State Street Jewelers in Geneva will host a pet adoption during its "Dog Days of Summer" campaign. Paws 4 U 4 Ever will bring dogs and puppies to the store from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. today. It will also collect donations of money and dog food. Part of the store's proceeds that day will be donated to the West Chicago-based shelter. The store is at 214 W. Call Craig Foltos at (630) 879-5253 with any questions or if you would like to reserve a space in the new market.31 to close in Aurora:Route 31 between Jericho Road and Bridgeway Avenue in Aurora is closed for nearly three weeks to allow repairs on the railroad bridge. Illinois Department of Transportation officials said posted detour routes will take motorists along Orchard Road, Prairie Street, Jericho Road and Route 30. Burlington Northern Santa Fe will perform the repairs. The road is scheduled to reopen Sept. 3.Wildflower updates:Want to know what is in bloom at the Batavia Riverwalk?
