Fun, food and 4-H staples of Elburn Days
The 81st annual Elburn Days kicked off Friday with plenty of food and fun.
As it has been every year, it's sponsored by the Elburn Lions Club, the largest club of its kind in the state.
Endless entertainment is at the heart of the festival, with live music throughout the weekend and a busy Community Stage, which will feature local dance and theater performances, the "Elburn Idol" contest, Ronald McDonald, free dance classes for kids, a Hula-Hoop contest, and an ice cream eating contest.
The "Elburn Idol" finalist competition will be from noon to 1 p.m. Saturday. The junior winner will sing on the main stage, opening for HiFi Superstars at 3:30 p.m. The adult "Elburn Idol" winner will open at 6:30 p.m. Sunday for 7th Heaven.
There will also be plenty to eat, topped off by the Lions' beef stand and Sunday's renowned grilled pork chops and barbecue chicken dinners.
There's more, like the truck and tractor pull from 11 a.m. to 4 p.m.
Saturday and the Hobbytown USA Point Series Race, where you can sign up to race and/or bash and trash your vehicle. Bingo, a Fun Run and the carnival - which will have reduced-price rides from noon to 10 p.m. Sunday - will add to the fun.
The 4-H livestock judging starts at 8 a.m. Saturday and the auction is at 1 p.m. Sunday.
