Bears sign QB Matt Gutierrez, DB Aaron Webster

LAKE FOREST -- The Chicago Bears signed QB Matt Gutierrez to a one-year contract and DB Aaron Webster to a two-year contract. Terms of the deals were not disclosed.

Gutierrez entered the league as an undrafted free agent with the New England Patriots in 2007 out of Idaho State. He appeared in five games for New England his rookie year and completed his only attempt for 15 yards. In 2008, Gutierrez was on the active roster for the final 16 weeks of the season, after starting out on the practice squad, but was inactive for 14 contests and did not play in the one game he was active. After being acquired off of waivers by the Kansas City Chiefs in 2009, Gutierrez appeared in one contest completing his only pass attempt for three yards. He was released by the Chiefs in June of 2010.

Webster was signed by the Houston Texans as an undrafted free agent out of the University of Cincinnati in 2010. He appeared in 45 games with the Bearcats (22 starts) over the course of four seasons (2006-09) recording 150 tackles, six interceptions, 14 passes defensed, 4.5 tackles for losses and two forced fumbles. As a senior in 2009, Webster paced the Bearcats with four interceptions, nine passes defensed and two forced fumbles and finished third with 69 tackles.

The Bears will announce two corresponding moves later today in order to reach the 80-man roster limit.
