Twelve inches shorter: Nicole and Courtney Durben, two Algonquin sisters, recently donated a bunch of hair to Lock of Love, the cancer charity that fashions donated ponytails into wigs for pediatric cancer patients.
It was Courtney's second time making the donation.
Two years ago when Courtney was 5, she was the youngest client ever to donate hair to the group through JT Michaels Hair Studio in Lake in the Hills.
Both Courtney and Nicole, who is entering the sixth grade, grew their hair out specifically to donate it, said their mom Kim.
Both girls donated 12 inches.
"My husband, Mike, and I have raised our girls to understand that they need to be grateful for what they have, and to realize that we need to help others out," Kim Durben has said.
