Jazz musicians travel to Woodstock square
The third annual Jazz on the Square Festival will be celebrated Friday, Aug. 27, and Saturday, Aug. 28, in Woodstock. From Friday evening through Saturday night, the Woodstock Square will become the heart of jazz entertainment in Northern Illinois as they bring quality jazz to Stage Left Café and the park in the Square.
At 7 p.m. Friday, the Typhanie Monique Duo will perform at the Stage Left Cafe, followed at 8:15 p.m. by the Shawn Maxwell Quartet. The Elaine Dame Duo will perform at 9:30 p.m. Admission is $10.
On Saturday, the Music Mavericks will kick off the day's event with a performance at 9 a.m. at the Woodstock Square Bandstand. It will be followed by Blue Skies at 10 a.m., the McHenry County College Jazz Combo at 11 a.m. and the Outcast Jazz Band at noon. Admission is free.
On Saturday, Tom Takayama of McHenry County College and music educator Bryan Kyrouac will be presenting a multimedia workshop, "Duke Ellington: Imagery in American Music" at Stage Left Café at 1:30 p.m. A $5 donation is requested. This presentation is open to jazz lovers and students alike.
At 7 p.m. Saturday at Stage Left Cafe, the evening's performances will begin with the Roger Panella Trio. It will be followed by the Paul Abella Trio at 8:15 p.m. and the Chris Green Quartet at 9:30 p.m. Admission is $10.
