Didn't things blow up on GOP's watch?
In a heated July 27 response to Diane Neisman's earlier letter, Terry Schwartz seems to have forgotten that it was the Republicans under President Bush who irresponsibly spent the entire President Clinton budget surplus and recklessly spent us into an alarming deficit.
Also overlooked is the fact that the current economic crisis grew, festered with no response, and blew up on the Republicans' watch.
Voters should not buy the lies being spread by partisan Republicans, and especially by conservative media demagogues, that the Democrats are primarily responsible for the terrible economic position we are in, both with respect to deficits and the economy as a whole. Measures taken by President Obama to help right our nation's economic ship have been measured and well targeted.
