Hawks re-sign defenseman Hendry to one-year deal
The Stanley Cup champion Blackhawks have re-signed defenseman Jordan Hendry to a one-year contract.
Hendry appeared in 43 games, posting a plus/minus rating of plus-5 with a career-best 2 goals and 6 assists.
The Blackhawks have many players to free agency or trades since winning their first Stanley Cup in 49 years, including Andrew Ladd, Ben Eager, Dustin Byfuglien, Brent Sopel, Adam Burish, Colin Fraser, John Madden and Kris Versteeg.
Hendry, 26, also posted career highs in points (8) and games played (43) during the 2009-10 regular season.
The Nokomis, Saskatchewan, native also skated in 15 postseason games in his Stanley Cup Playoffs debut.
Originally signed as a free agent following a collegiate career at Alaska-Fairbanks, Hendry has 3 goals, 9 assists and 36 penalty minutes in 92 regular-season NHL contests spanning three seasons (2007-10).
Hendry has also tallied 37 points (11 goals, 26 assists) in 191 American Hockey League games with the Norfolk Admirals (2005-07) and Rockford IceHogs (2007-09).
