Park staff availability:The Geneva Park District is extending the hours of operation for the administrative office at the Geneva Community Center, 710 Western Ave. Starting Tuesday it will be open from 5:30 a.m. to 9:30 p.m. weekdays and 7 a.m. to 8 p.m. weekends. Staff can help with program registration, purchase of pool passes and fitness memberships and answer other questions.Quarry Beach input:The Batavia Park District has scheduled more meetings for residents to discuss what should be done with Hall Quarry Beach. The meetings are all at the beach, 400 S. Water St.; if it rains, they will move to the Civic Center, 327 W. Wilson St. The meetings are at 6 p.m. Tuesday, Thursday and Aug. 24; and at noon Aug. 18.Scam prevention program:State Sen. John Millner of Carol Stream and the Attorney's General Office will co-host a scam and identity-theft prevention program from 10:30 a.m. to noon Tuesday, Aug. 10 at the Hunt Club Village, 200 Hunt Club Drive, St. Charles. The free program will teach participants how to protect themselves from financial exploitation in health care fraud, debt settlement and consolidation traps, check-cashing scams, fraudulent businesses and what their rights are under new credit card rules. The seminar is part of The Silver Beat program from the Attorney's General Office, designed to give senior citizens knowledge and tools to avoid being targets of a wide range of fraud. For more information, contact Millner's office at (630) 351-9340.Kaneland golf outing:The Kaneland Foundation's annual golf outing will be held Sept. 16 at Bliss Creek Golf Course, 1 Golfview Drive, in Sugar Grove. It will be a four-person scramble with two divisions, Men's or Mixed (at least one woman). Sponsorships are available until Aug. 31. It is part of the street improvement program. Pavement patching on other roads will take place throughout August. A list of streets is available at cityofbatavia.net.
