For details, visit argusbcs.com/greenthursday.asp.Forest preserve closes trails:The Kane County Forest Preserve District has closed trails at Fitchie Creek Forest Preserve in Plato Township and the Fox River Trail in South Elgin. At Fitchie Creek, the multipurpose limestone trail along the perimeter of the preserve is closed due to major damage from the recent flooding. This trail is closed indefinitely. The Fox River Trail is closed between the State Street bridge north to Robertson Road, due to the nearby Stearns Road bridge construction project. This closure is expected to last for a minimum of 10 weeks. Updates will be posted at kaneforest.com. Jobs include setup, teardown, providing information and hospitality for the visiting artists, parking and traffic management, and children's art activity assistance.Special ed records destroyed:Kaneland School District 302 will destroy temporary special education records of students who graduated, transferred out of the district or were dismissed from special education services before the 2004-2005 school year. Students and their parents or guardians can inspect or receive the records before Aug. 15. Call (630) 365-5111 ext. 110.Aurora sells old cop furniture:Aurora residents interested in purchasing a small part of the city's past can pick up some used police department furniture during a sale from 8 to 11 a.m. Aug. 14 at the former headquarters at 350 N. River St. Items range in price from $2 to $10 and include dozens of small office tables, bookshelves, locker sections, filing cabinets, desks and chairs. All purchases are cash only and all sales are final. A listing of sale items and their prices is at aurora-il.org.Mural in North Aurora:The Illinois Lincoln Highway Coalition recently unveiled an interpretive mural in North Aurora. It is at 1 N. Lincolnway (Route 31). The mural depicts Exposition Park, an amusement park that once attracted visitors to the village. The mural is paid for by the Federal Highway Administration and the Illinois Department of Commerce and Economic Opportunity.
