Sugar Grove men sought in cemetery beating
The Kane County sheriff's office is looking for two Sugar Grove men charged in connection with a fight at a cemetery.
John F. Karas, 21, of the 1800 block of Fays Lane, and Alexander S. Wagner, 21, of the 1900 block of Annette Circle, are each being sought on felony charges of aggravated battery and mob action, authorities said.
Kane County Sheriff's Lt. Pat Gengler said the two suspects beat up a 21-year-old Elburn man they knew about 6:30 p.m. Monday at Gardner Cemetery, on the 49W500 block of Route 38, southeast of Maple Park.
As the fight was taking place, Gengler said, a 30-year-old man who lives nearby tried to intervene and was also attacked.
"Deputies attempted to locate the two known offenders but were unable to do so," Gengler said. "Warrants have been issued for their arrest."
Neither victim was hospitalized, and no weapons were used, according to police.
