Elena Kagan twisted abortion statement

Elena Kagan must not be confirmed to the U.S. Supreme Court. Thanks to the way she twisted and distorted the statement of the National Association of Obstetricians and Gynecologists regarding the lack of medical necessity for partial birth abortion, this unbelievably cruel and inhuman practice continued nearly 10 years longer.

This medical association (those qualified to make such a statement) had stated clearly that there is no medical need, no health care need for partial birth abortion. That type of abortion, formally legal in the last trimester of pregnancy, even into the last weeks, is done by sticking pointed scissors into the unborn baby's head at the base of the skull and then suctioning out the brain to collapse the skull so the baby, now dead, could be more easily expelled from the womb. Kagan twisted that medical pronouncement into a political statement that called the doctors' statement into question. What will she do with the law and our Constitution if she is given the chance to legislate from the bench if she is confirmed? Whatever you think about abortion, changing the language of a law, or a medical statement, or something else to promote one's own opinion is wrong. Someone who would do that does not deserve the trust needed in a public official, especially one who is appointed for life.
