The annexation frustrated officials in Lake Zurich, who said it violated a 1998 boundary agreement that stated Quentin Road as the dividing line between the two villages. Land west of Quentin Road was to be eventually annexed into Lake Zurich, not Hawthorn Woods, they said. Suzanne Branding, Lake Zurich village president, said she hopes the annexation ordinance will be repealed, terminating the dispute.
