Blackhawks sign right winger Igor Makarov

The Blackhawks have signed right wing Igor Makarov to a two-year contract.

Makarov, 22, tallied five goals, four assists and 61 penalty minutes in 51 regular-season tilts with Moscow Dynamo and St. Petersburg SKA of the Kontinental Hockey League.

The Moscow, Russia native has registered 26 points (14G, 12A) in 93 contests over the last two seasons in the KHL.

Chicago's second selection (33rd overall) in the 2006 NHL Entry Draft, Makarov has also logged experience on the international stage.

He potted five goals in six contests for Russia at the 2005 World Under-18 Championships, and tallied six points (2G,4A) and a +5 plus/minus rating while helping Russia to a silver medal at the 2007 World Junior Championships, a tournament that featured current Blackhawks Patrick Kane, Jonathan Toews and Niklas Hjalmarsson.
