For information about registration, visit kaneland.org.Rail crossing to be repaired:The rail crossing at Washington and Aurora streets in West Chicago is scheduled for repairs between 8 a.m. today and 8 p.m. Friday, city officials said. Complete road closure will be required for the duration of the project. A proposed detour route will use Wood Street to the east, Church Street to the south and Clara Street to the west.Aurora to test sewers:Aurora engineers will conduct smoke testing of sanitary sewers in a portion of the east side beginning today. The area is bounded by the BNSF Railroad tracks on the north, Farnsworth Avenue on the east, Grand Boulevard on the south, and Trask and Wood Streets on the west. Officials said the smoke testing is needed to assess the condition of the sanitary sewer system to target any needed repairs or replacements. Testing consists of blowing white smoke under pressure into sanitary manholes located on streets and parkways. The process forces the smoke to exit through roof plumbing vents, downspouts, window well drains, cracked pipes, and through other avenues. The testing process will take several weeks to complete.
