Who created deficits in the first place?

Republicans are two-trick-pony ideologues; that is, they incessantly espouse tax cuts and small government, even though they squandered President Clinton's budget surplus, brought on sky-high budget deficits with out-of-control and ill-considered spending, and failed to prevent the economic meltdown or to deal with it effectively once it happened.

Keep in mind that President Roosevelt got this country out of the Great Depression and into three decades of economic growth/expansion, helped by World War II, of course, and reversed only by President Reagan's practicing the now thoroughly discredited supply-side economics - by doing the exact opposite of what conservatives want President Obama to do at this juncture.
